New Alabama Area Code 483

A new area code has just been scheduled to enter service for Southeast Alabama, USA in February 2026. The new 483 NPA will overlay existing Numbering Plan Area 334, currently serving cities like Auburn, Coffee Springs, Dothan, Montgomery or Thomasville. Area code 483 will cover the same geographic area and will bring mandatory 10 digit dialing to this part of Alabama.

Key dates

• July 23, 2025 - permissive 7/10 digit dialing begins (calls from NPA 334 can be dialed using both 7 and 10 digits)
• January 23, 2026 - mandatory 10 digit dialing begins
• February 23, 2026 - new area code 483 enters service
