Northeastern California communities like Chico, Davis, Redding, Woodland or Yuba City, currently served by Numbering Plan Area (NPA) code 530, will start using a second, overlay NPA in 2025. The new 837 area code is scheduled to enter service on January 25, 2025. The two area codes will overlay and therefore cover the same geographic area. The current dialing plan for NPA 530 (1+10 digits for both local and toll calls) will also apply when the new 837 NPA is activated.
