Louisiana Area Code 457

Numbering Plan Area Code 318 in Northern Louisiana covers almost half of the southern US state, serving larger and smaller communities like Alexandria, Bossier City, Cotton Valley, Monroe or Shreveport. From September 2025, the newly announced NPA 457 will be overlaid on the existing NPA 318 as a relief method for the latter. 10 digit dialing for local calls will become mandatory as a result.

Key dates

• February 24, 2025 - permissive 7/10 digit dialing begins (local calls within NPA 318 borders may be dialed using 7 or 10 digits)
• August 25, 2025 - 10 digit dialing becomes mandatory
• September 25, 2025 - new area code 457 enters service
