Ohio Area Code 380

Back in 2001, on June 27th, the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio approved an overlay area code as the relief method for NPA 614 serving cities such as Columbus or Westerville in Central Ohio, USA. The new 380 area code will serve the same communities of Ohio starting next year. To help residents of this area get used to dialing 10 digits when calling locally, a permissive dialing period is set to begin on August 1, 2015 and end on January 30, 2016.

Key dates

• 08/01/2015 - start of permissive 7/10/11 digit dialing period in area code 614 (7/10 digits may be dialed for local calls within NPA 614, 7/1+10 digits may be dialed for toll calls)
• 01/30/2016 - end of permissive dialing period
• 02/27/2016 - area code 380 enters service
