New York City's Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island boroughs plus the Manhattan area known as Marble Hill are currently served by a total of 4 overlaying area codes: 718/347/917/929, with the last one (929) added in 2011. As of June 18, 2026 the new area code 465 will be activated, becoming the 5th NPA to cover this densely populated area.
As a reminder, NYC's Manhattan borough is served by a different overlay complex comprising these 4 area codes: 212/646/917/332.
No change in New York City's dialing plan (1 + 10 digits for local and toll calls) is required with the new 465 NPA's addition.
